The Progress Report Details section is used to create a new progress report, or to view or edit previous progress reports.
Progress reports can also be partially viewed via IEP Section > Progress Reports, but this Progress Report Details section is where they should be created.
Using the screenshot at right as an example: the top portion of the page is mirrored in IEP Section > Progress Reports; whereas the "Progress Report Details" shown in the bottom portion can only be viewed here.
This page shows information about goals, measurements, baselines, and other progress report details.
Navigation
IEP > Progress Report Details > (click the pencil icon) > Progress Report Summary
Data shown in this section is correlated to the IEP Section > Progress Reports subsection.
Progress Report Summary
Progress Reports should be created in the manner described here to access all available options. It is possible to generate a new progress report directly in the IEP by adding the Progress Reports section via the Edit Section(s) static link; however, the details will only appear in Progress Report Details as described below.
Click the View icon for the IEP you need to add a Progress Report to.
A Progress Report will automatically generate when this icon is clicked.
Using the Dropdown, select the Instructional Plan you need to add data for. The dropdown options, and uneditable data shown below, is populated from the Instructional Plans created in the IEP under the Instructional Plan tab.

Enter a Date Goal Achieved if there is one. It is not necessary to enter this initially when saving this section.
The Goal Description can only be written and edited via the IEP Instructional Plan section. From there, it will automatically populate in this Progress Report Summary.
If needed, modify the Date Achieved by clicking the View/Edit icon.
Baseline Data can be entered and edited by clicking the pencil icon. Click Save to commit any changes, or Cancel to exit.
It is recommended to enter the baseline data while creating the IEP. However, if this data is not entered, then it can be added by returning later to this section.
Alternately, in the IEP Progress Reports section, these Baseline Data edits can only be made by first clicking Amend IEP and creating an Amendment. This second method is not recommended because it requires the creation of an amendment.
Entering Baseline Data, Teacher’s Signature, and Date, and clicking Save Changes will commit the data. This will also update the Modified timestamp at the bottom of this section.
The Progress Report Details “+” button and section will not appear unless the three fields above are filled out and saved. Any changes can be edited again later.
Progress Report Details
Click the “+” button to create a Progress Report Details section.
Select a Progress Report date via the dropdown. These dates are automatically generated and reflect the day the “+” button was clicked. Thus reports created on different days can be accessed as needed --- typically based on nine-week periods.
The Reporting Period can be entered manually or by using the calendar icon.
The Progress Toward Goal dropdown offers these options:
Not Addressed
Insufficient Progress
Sufficient Progress
Achieved
Generalized
The IP (instructional Plan) Reason dropdown offers these options:
None Provided
Frequent Absences/Tardiness
Medical/Health
Missing Class Assignments
Missing Homework Assignments
Lack of Preparation
Behavior Interfering with Progress
Lack of Motivation/Participation
Other (Identify)
Is Conversation Needed: yes/no must be chosen.
The Current Data text field can be used to input levels, rubrics, grade levels, assessments, etc.
The Comments text field can be used to input the instructor’s personal observations regarding student progress or condition.
Enter the Teacher Signature and Date for this Progress Report Detail.
Click Save Changes to commit.
Clicking Delete Detail will delete the Detail only, not the Progress Report.
Click Return to IEP List at the top of the section. This will navigate back to the Progress Reports table. The new progress report will be shown in the table.
Click the pencil icon to the right of the row to view or edit a progress report.
Add/edit the Date Goal Achieved field, or other date fields:
Go to IEP > Progress Report Details
Click View/Edit by the Goal:
Enter the Date Goal Achieved by using the calendar icon, then click Update.
Click Save Changes to commit the data.
The progress report details are only viewable on the printed version, or in the Progress Report Details section.
When you open the original IEP (or previous amendment) in eSER, you will only see the baseline data, not the progress details. To view the "missing" progress report details, you must download the progress reports for the original IEP. If you want these to show like the others, you need to reenter them. Or another option is to add the print version to the student profile page.
If a progress report was written with an amendment open and not submitted, those progress reports are technically on the original IEP (or a previous amendment) and not on the current amendment. This is because once you submit the amendment it overwrites the original IEP linked in the progress report section. As long as progress reports are completed with no open amendment drafts, progress report details remain with the latest version of the IEP.
Go to Progress Report Details.
Then View.
When you click View, it will automatically populate a Progress Report section for the IEP.
Input anything here to get the "+" button to show, and you can then enter progress report details. Click Save Changes at the bottom to exit.
Here's another example, but without the baseline data field:
After following this procedure, the + button will appear, and the Progress Report Details can be added and saved.
[Because of similarities in the Instruction Plan and Progress Report Details sections, this visual guide is copied here from the Instructional Plan visual guide.]
The Goal Description table provides a View/Edit pencil icon which allows for edits to the data.
Clicking the icon will produce the Add/Edit Goals popup, where a date and narrative can be entered.
As mentioned in the walkthrough, it is not necessary to amend an IEP at a later time to add this data. Instead, add it under Progress Report Details.
Click the Close button to commit the data and return to the Instructional Plan, or click the Esc key on the keyboard to exit this popup with no changes.
Progress Reports can only be downloaded and printed as PDFs by navigating to IEP > IEP List.
Go to the IEP list and click download.
Click the Progress Reports checkbox, and any other optional sections as needed.
Then click the Download IEP button.
The PDF will be downloaded to your default folder. This folder can be changed if desired.
Nothing yet.
See the FAQs section in Progress Reports for additional information about troubleshooting progress report issues.
Problems with editing, viewing or printing
Progress Reports are tied to Instructional Plans. You may need to amend the IEP and add an educational area and/or remove any unneeded instructional plans -- these will show as blank tabs in the Instructional Plan section:
