Letting your creativity run free as you make an impact in the community is a highly valued practice in our school. Whether it be building plant pots from milk cartons, art out of broken wheelbarrows or even fashion shows with clothing crafted from newspapers, there is nothing you cannot explore on our campus. As part of our school theme of 'Togetherness and Community', we emphasise the integration of our senior school and junior school students in all sustainable practices.
In 2017, we launched a whole school campaign to collect bottcle caps from students all over the school. Starting from reception, all the way to year 13, our students came together to bring our first ever large scale upclycing project to life.
Over many weeks, our student & staff body and parent community united to collect one-time container caps of various shapes and colours. This impactful piece aims to raise awareness about the damage that these plastic caps can do our our oceans, especially our beloved coastal coral reef.
As part of our testament to student empowerment, the house forest level awards challenges students in each tutor group, to create a decorated recycling boxes out of what otherwise would be discarded cardboard boxes. Instead of disposing of our A4 paper boxes, we upcycle them into recycling bins, to be placed in each classroom around the school.

To motivate our students at the ODC, students made a mascot out of a wheelbarrow that could no longer be used, alongside boots, gloves and a hat that were all preloved. This goes to show that we, as a community, strive to promote the reduce, reuse and recycle intitiative.
Senior school students in Whistler and Argus House collaborated in creating a cabinet planter out of a stack of drawers that were no longer able to be used in classrooms. By decorating the drawers, they created a beautiful statement piece, to be displayed at the ODC, as various different plants thrive in their new home. They tryly upheld their motto of 'The Power of We'.
