We value student empowerment. We have 16 houses (8 paired houses), who work together to build the foundations of sustainability at our campus.
From leading recycling initiatives and contributing to community service; all the way to running a self-made green business, the opportunities to explore areas of in-school sustainability are endless!
The House Forest Level Award (HFLA) is an award that recognises and rewards students around the school, for their efforts of raising environmental awareness.
It is split into 4 levels: forest floor, understory, canopy and emergent – each level being named after a layer of forest.
The House Forest Level Awards, amongst many others, is an outlet for student leaders (Eco-Reps) to drive forward their House's efforts towards paper recycling and more! Have a look at our house pages, to see how students in JIS take one step closer to becoming champions of environmental excellence.
Watch this video from our principal, Mr Sheehan, explaining more about our green business challenge!
