There are a great many potential areas that the school can focus upon on our journey to continue to become a sustainable school. The four strategic dimensions (Capacity, Community, Campus and Curriculum) that guide school development are embodied in this diagram that shows what our school believes in and stands for. This student-created diagram captures the ethos of our school. It shows the characteristic spirit of our community as manifested in our attitudes and aspirations.
Central to this is our student profile, polio points reward system and our student ‘motto’ of togetherness and community. Encircling this is our continued journey to sustainability in everything that we do at JIS. Beyond this are the Sustainable Development Goals, a blueprint to achieve a more equitable, peaceful and sustainable world for everyone.
As sustainability prefects of 24/25, we are honored to be given this position to showcase all of the amazing work that we have done in JIS. Showing the diverse and lively area helps the students' education and social needs by surrounding them with beautiful rich green nature to enjoy the activities that JIS offers.
Our motto for this Academic Year is 'Go Big or Go Green'. We're igniting a collective drive to make a substantial impact on the environment. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to our shared goal. These 'Teaspoons of Change' gather momentum, propelling us forward until we stand united at the peak of the mountain, champions of a greener world.
We hope it encourages everyone to pause and reconsider their actions. This website serves as a portal to the sustainable initiatives at JIS, showcasing the positive steps our student body is taking to diminish our environmental footprint. Together, we're paving the way for a Cleaner Tomorrow, ensuring a greener legacy for generations to come."

Earth Week is an annual event held at JIS. It aims to raise awareness of the current man-made factors affecting our planet and how we, as a school community, can contribute to the solution. The theme this year was 'Earth vs Excessive Consumption'.
From Reef Ball Construction to House Green Business sales at the ODC, students were truly immersed with hands-on activities that rejuvenate the planet and understand the harm of excessive consumption and to reduce that. Students were exposed to some of the wonderful sustainable local businesses that came onto campus to display their products too. We are proud to say that this year's Earth Week was yet again, a huge success!
The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 objectives adopted in 2015. It has been agreed to by all nations in the UN, pledging to work towards this call-to-action. To make the 2030 agenda a reality, strong commitment is needed from everyone everywhere.
By learning about the SDGs, you have completed your first step, how you contribute next is up to you, but JIS offers many activities & events, either CCAs or roles of responsibility to assist in educating and action towards the SDGs.
