In our RE lessons we have been looking at different types of books and what makes them sacred. Our first lesson allowed us to discuss what the word 'sacred' means and share what our favourites books are and why. We drew our favourite books and they are now taking pride place on our reading working wall!
Throughout the module we have been looking at scared books from different religions, in particular within Christianity and Judaism. We have looked at why the books within these religions and special to people and have had opportunities to illustrated key parts of some religious stories that are in the books.
This module we are looking at different places of worship and what makes them sacred. Our first lesson focused on the word 'sacred' and how different places of worship are sacred to people. Throughout the module we will be looking at a Christian's place of worship and a Muslim's place of worship as well as different signs and symbols that can be found inside them.
Our next RE lessons focused on an Islamic place of worship. We discussed what we might find inside a worship and why these places are important to people who follow the religion. This lesson has helped us with our next lesson as we have been looking at different religious signs and symbols and discussing what they mean to people who follow Islam or Christianity.
In RE this module we will be looking at celebrations that take place in certain religions. We will look at the Easter story in more detail, as well as Hanukkah that is celebrated if you are Jewish.
In Module 5 we have been focussing on the key question of 'How should we care for others and the world?' We have looked at the Christian stories of 'The Good Samaritan' and 'The paralysed Man' and what we could learn from them about caring for others and being a good friend. We have also looked at how to look after the world by caring for our environment.
In Module 6 we have been looking at special books to us and learning to recognise and name different holy books.
