In our PSHE lessons this module we have been looking at us, our environment and how we can support and work together to make our classroom environment a nicer place to be in. We started the module by looking at our hopes and fears for the year and how we will solve those problems when in Year 2. We did this by reading a text all about worries and learning how are able to sometimes just let those worries go and not hold on to them for a long time.
In weeks 2 and 3 we looked at our rights and responsibilities as someone in Year 2 and also what the words rewards and consequences meant. We looked at positive and negative behaviour and what would be the best thing to do in our classroom to make it a safe space.
Throughout the rest of the module we have been focusing on making our learning environment the best place for us by making it inviting and calming. We also developed our knowledge of rewards and consequences further by looking at the stages of behaviour charts that we have in school, as well as the rules and expectaions that we all created during our Year 2 transition.
To help us make positive choices in Year 2, we have a star system where children can earn stars if they are following the rules and expectaions. To help this area look even more amazing, we created posters and certificates that we could use in our classroom to share how amazing we are and all of our amazing learning. As well as this, we have also introduced star of the day alongside star of the week. The children are excited to find out who the star of the day is every afternoon and if they are chosen, they are able to receive a prize!
This module is all about celebrating differences. Our first two lessons have focused on boys and girls and the word 'stereotype'. We have looked at how we can have similarities as well as differences with everyone. To celebrate these, we designed shields to show our differences between our friends.
In our next few lessons we have looked at why bullying happens and what we could to stop it. We took part in lots of role play activities and were very good at creating freeze frames! In these lessons we came up with lots of ideas on how to stand up to bullies and what to do if we saw someone who was being bullied in our school.
This module has all been about setting goals and working towards them. At the beginning of the module we focused on what we would like to achieve and how we can be successful in doing this. We created steps to success and also designed our own success treasure chests. We are trying really hard to enjoy listening to our friends successes and sharing them when we can.
Throughout this module we have looked at being healthy and what that involves. Wed looked at different meals and nutritional values, and how it is important to have a healthy, balanced diet.
Throughout these modules we have been looking at our future selves and how we grow as we get older. We have been looking at transition and discussing the changes that may occur in Year 3. To help become more settled, we have written or drawn things that we enjoy doing in Year 2 and have written some questions for our near Teachers for transition day. During our transition days, we enjoyed learning all about otters and squirrels. We are very excited to be joining Year 3!
