During our first computing lesson of Year 2 we looked at what information technology is and the difference between IT and computers. We identified things that were computers and things that were a form of information technology.

In our next computing lesson we looked at IT that is in our school. We were lucky enough to go on an IT hunt around the school and found things such as maglocks, alarms, interactive whiteboards, phones and printers. We discussed that all of these things need computers to help them to work. When we get back into the classroom, we used our Chromebooks to help sort IT into groups such as; things we use to play on, things that help us, things we use to talk to people and we are not sure. It was great being able to develop our computing skills or dropping and dragging on Google Slides.

In our third computing lesson we looked at IT around the world. We discussed what forms of IT we might find in public places such as shopping centres and restaurants. Like last week, we were able to develop our dropping and dragging skills as we completed a sorting task on our Chromebooks.

To help develop our knowledge further, we looked at how we can ue IT safely when in school and when at home. We looked at the word 'risk' and what that means as well as how we can limit the risk of danger when using technology. We have bene spending some time this module focusing on how to stay safe online and what to do if we find something that we do not like.
This module is all about digital photography! So far this module we have looked at taking photos and what devices we can use to help us do this correctly and safely. We have practised taking photos in landscape and portrait positions. We had great fun taking a range of different photos.

Module three has all been about programming! We have been learning about what algorithms are and how we use them when computing. We have had a great time exploring Bee Bots and creating maps and routes for them. When we have encountered problems, we discussed how we could 'debug' programmes to make them work.
In module 4 we are focusing on making digital music. Our first couple of computing lessons have allowed us to discuss how music makes us feel and why some people prefer to listen to slow music and others fast. Once we discussed why people enjoy music, we explored the musical terms 'rhythm' and 'pattern'. We did this by using the google platform Chrome Music Lab. We had great fun exploring the platform and making the animals on the website play range of different patterns for us!
In the first few weeks of Module 5 we have been using Scratch Jnr to develop our programming skills. We have discovered a range of different blocks that we can use on Scratch Jnr and created quizzes, asking our sprites questions and getting them to move to another background.
In Module 6 we have been looking at data collection, which has linked nicely with our maths learning. We have been looking at how we can collect a range of data and then placing that data on pictograms. We have loved using our Chromebooks to help us make our own pictograms online!
