In Module 1 we have started to look at an artist called William Morris. He was an artist during the Victorian Era and designed printed wallpaper.
Our first lesson involved us choosing one of William Morris' wallpaper designed and giving our opinion on it, sharing our thoughts on what we like and dislike. We also noted down what we could see on the designs.
N.C about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work.
In our second lesson we recapped who William Morris was and why he was so famous during the Victorian Era. We also looked at some of Willam's artwork and shared our thoughts and feelings around which ones were our favourite and why. As we moved on in the lesson we started to practise our own design, focusing on repeating patterns and florals.

N.C to use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination
After practising some repeating patterns, we spent some time designing own print that was inspired by William Morris and his wallpaper. We will use these designs in our final piece, which will be foam printing.

This module we are looking at the skill of drawing. As we are looking at celebrating our similarities and differences, we started the module by practising a range of mark marking an d sketching skills, as they will help us when we draw our own self portraits or portraits of others within the classroom.
N.C to develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space
Throughout Module 3 we have been focusing on the artist Barbara Hepworth and the technique of sculpture. Our first few lessons allowed us to focus on researching information on Barbara Hepworth and drawing some of her designs. To help us develop the knowledge of sculpture further, we made links between our history and art learning and designed our own aircrafts that we would eventually make our of air drying clay.

During week 4 of the module we invited our parents and carers in to make the aircrafts we have designed out of air drying clay. They looked amazing and we were even able to take them home!

Throughout Module 4 we will be looking at collage. To help us understand how to create amazing collages, we are learning about a current artist called Megan Coyle. Our first lesson will involve exploring this artist by finding out key information about her as a person as well as having the opporutnity to explore her artwork. We will give our opinion on her artist and describe what they look like and what we can see.
We sketched the outline of our flower, then decided what colours we wanted to use. We spent a long time making them look perfect and they have turned out great!
In Module 5 our focus artist is Linda Lang. She is an artist who travels to the arctic to take photos of icebergs and the impact that global warming has on them. We have been inspired by Linda Lang to paint our own iceberg paintings using watercolours, with a focus on warm and cool colours.
In Module 6 we have been looking our printing skills to support our DT work on making cushions. We created a printing tile to use to print our patterns onto the fabric of our cushions. We really enjoyed deciding on our favourite pattern to use!
