Understanding Drawings

Drawings are a key part of our time in the workshop. If we can't understand them then we won't be able to make the project correctly. Fortunately all drawings are completed in a standard way so if we understand one then we should understand them all.

For your exam you will be expected to interpret and understand the following terms:

• Working drawings, pictorial drawings, diagrams, cutting lists,
• Knowledge and understanding of orthographic projection,
• Scale,
• Dimensioning (linear, radial and diameter),
• Basic drawing conventions including: line types, centre lines and hidden detail.
