Hammers

Hammers are used for a variety of tasks in the metalwork room.

The ball pein is the most commonly used. The flat pein can be used for shaping (cold or hot) as well as driving chisels or punches into the metal.

The ball pein end is used for upsetting or peining metal for example when riveting using a snap rivet.

Planishing hammers are used when forming sheet metal. For more about this, see here.
