Metalwork Glues

Metal Adhesives provide a useful alternative to thermal joining (welding and soldering) or mechanical fixings such as riveting or screwing.

The five different glue types most commonly used for metal bonding are: two-part acrylics; two-part epoxies; and polyurethanes . These all give high strength bonds and can withstand harsh environments. The remaining two are cyanoacrylates (super glue) and silicones. These are suitable for specific applications but are either less capable of withstanding harsh environments or are not as strong.

The most common metal adhesive is probably 2 part epoxy. This usually comes in 2 tubes sometimes held in a handy applicator. One tube contains the resin and the second contains the activator. When the two are combined, a chemical reaction causes the resin to permanently harden.
