Spot Welding

Spot welding is the process of connecting sheet metal together by fusing a number of 'spots' which join the two parts. A spot welder makes these connecting spots by passing a current through the metal, this causes the metal to heat up at that spot and fuses the two parts together. A spot welder can be calibrated for different thicknesses of metal so that the current is applied for the right amount of time to fuse the parts without melting them.

This is what a typical spot weld will look like.
