Parallel Turning

Parallel Turning is a centre lathe cutting process which is performed to reduce the diameter of the workpiece.

If a long length is to be reduced then the automatic feed might be used to ensure a smooth, even cut and the live centre should be used to support the material and prevent it from bending away from the tool. This would result in a reverse taper being machined!

To move the tool in this direction, the saddle wheel will be turned.
