Integrated American Literature will build up the foundational skills that all students will need in the area of writing. You will work on becoming fully confident in the CER system, focusing on strategies for more mature writing. The eleventh grade Common Core standards also make a huge jump in reading comprehension, moving from questions like, “What is the story’s point of view?” to “How does the author’s point of view affect the story?” This integrated class will address the same skills as your counterparts in American Literature A&B but will approach the analysis in smaller steps and at a different pace that will guarantee your complete understanding of the skills. Each unit does have a large summative that is focused generally on writing. This class will continue to help you become a more confident, independent, effective, and efficient reader and writer.
