In this course, we examine the way American authors explore their experiences through novels.  Students continue to develop an understanding of how an author uses literary devices and writing methods to create stories that reflect their understanding of the American experience, including greater human lessons, in each novel.  We read and write extensively to understand the depth of American writers' craft. Units may vary; students decide on each novel as a class (with teacher input) as the class progresses.
