Course Description:
In this engaging 1st Grade Social Studies course, students will embark on a journey to explore the world around them, beginning with their immediate community and gradually expanding their understanding to include broader concepts. Through interactive activities and storytelling, students will learn about the following key areas:
Community and Citizenship: Students will explore what it means to be a part of a community, learn about rules and responsibilities, and understand the importance of cooperation and respect for others.
Geography and Environment: Young learners will be introduced to basic geographical concepts such as maps, landforms, and natural resources. They'll discover how geography affects daily life and the environment.
History and Culture: Through stories and activities, students will learn about significant historical events and figures, particularly focusing on local history and how it shapes their community today.
Economics and Resources: Students will gain a basic understanding of goods and services, needs and wants, and how people use resources to meet their needs.
Government and Symbols: The course will introduce students to local and national symbols, leaders, and the basic functions of government.
