The Portrait of a Graduate is a process that begins at home, then is transferred to the school setting in Pre-Kindergarten. Once in PK students will begin to learn, create, develop skills that are essential for life. This purpose and focus of the Portrait of a Graduate tenets. There are 7 main tenets that make up the Portrait of a Graduate. In an effort to better see how a student will progress and grow through their PK-12 educational journey, the tenets have been laid out in a sequence for each grade level.
Elementary School Years: For the Portrait of a Graduate to become complete, there has to be a starting block. These earlier years in school we develop the main building blocks that will lead to a well rounded, educated, and productive citizen in our community.
Middle School Years: Some of the toughest times of our lives occur during the middle school years. Our bodies and minds are growing at a fast rate and can make times challenging. Through the Portrait of the Graduate, students will develop deeper understandings of the tenets and enrich their lives and education giving them tools to help through these tough years.
High School Years & Beyond: These years will be the final steps in the preparation of our graduates. As students start to look forward, the Portrait of a Graduate skills will allow them to be successful in the post education world. Whether that world is more schooling at a college or university; military service, or the workforce; they will be prepared and well rounded citizens in our community or a new community.
