We recently received a new Land Acknowledgment Statement from Black Gold to be posted within the school and today, on Orange Shirt Day, we will start the day with this statement on the announcements. 

For those of you who have not heard the story behind Orange Shirt Day and its progenitor, Phyllis Webstad, this website is an excellent resource. It is a heartbreaking story and one that, should it have happened to one of my children would have left me broken and angry. Phyllis has turned her story into one of hope for the future, however. Today is our opportunity to, by wearing our Orange Shirts, to say that this should never happen to any child in our society. 

In this same vein, we will welcome Cadmus Delorme to our school on the 17th! Cadmus is a past Chief of Cowessess First Nation and a well recognized speaker on Reconciliation. His candor and humor strikes an amazing balance of urging us to move forward on the path to reconciliation and also remind us that we can still laugh together. Finally, for those of you interested we have created a Google Athletics Calendar that we will begin populating! Feel free to add it to your list of calendars. We are also looking forward to seeing you all at Parent Teacher Interviews on the 9th! Always nice to welcome the community into the building! Have a great weekend!
