From the Nest
Hawks,
Last week we had our December School Council meeting. It was a good meeting with lots of interesting dialog about pedagogy, school programming and future thoughts. One of the highlights of the meeting was having one of our Leadership students attend. The group was impressed at the efforts of the student leadership group as well as the large amount if students engaged in providing leadership within the building. I was impressed as well!
We also talked about the development of our Collegiate model and about the professional learning that our staff has undertaken in the last few months. It is not just the students that have been learning at CSS. From Visible Learning to Learning Walks, we are working hard to refine our skills in order to bring out the best in your children.
Tomorrow we will be engaged in this learning as a division. I hope that this day provides our students with a moment of reflection before our run to the break. There is a lot happening at the school as we roll into the break. We hope to see you all at Beetle Juice and we will have Christmas Lunch on the 13th. Finally, if you are looking ahead, you can find our January exam schedule below. Enjoy your weekend. All the best!
Respectfully,
Justin Klaassen
Italy or Bust Fundraisers!
We are excited to announce our monthly fundraising events aimed at supporting students who will be traveling to Italy in November 2025. Your generous contributions are crucial to making this experience possible.
If you wish to support a specific student but are not aware of any individuals, you may contribute to the group fund under the name "Italy 2025." Alternatively, please contact our office for information on individual students who would benefit from your support.
Thank you for your commitment to enriching the educational journey of our students. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Note from the CSS Travel Club!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are so incredibly grateful for your ongoing support in helping our students achieve their dream of traveling to Italy. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to us, and we can’t thank you enough for being part of this journey.
Our biggest fundraiser is coming up on November 30th, and we’re so excited to see everyone there! After that, we’ll be taking a little break to enjoy the holiday season. But don’t worry—we’ll be back at it on Saturday, January 11th (time to be announced) with our bottle drive.
From all of us in the Travel Club, we want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for making this dream possible—we couldn’t do it without you!
With heartfelt thanks,
The Calmar Secondary School Travel Club Members
