Hawks,
At this point all of you should have received information to your email regarding strike action coming on Monday. I know that this change at our school likely creates a variety of emotions. At a school level I can tell you that we are sad that a part of our family will not be with us for a time. We also recognize that they are away for an important reason. While they are away, we will do our best, but we do very much look forward to their return. In the meantime, there will be times that we will be asking for some grace as we work out functioning without some important members of our team. Knowing the heart of this community, I have not doubt we will be able to work together.
On another note, last week we welcomed Ahmad Jabbir to help us better understand Proactive Mental Health as part of our Wellness week. Ahmad spoke to the school as well as to parents in the evening. This week we will finish up the week recognizing academics as we bring the school together to present Honours and Honours with Distinction awards. You are welcome to join us! In the meantime, enjoy your weekend and the warm weather! I know I will be!
Respectfully,
Justin Klaassen
If your child will not be attending school please contact the school to let us know. Given the upcoming strike action when possible please report absences using this FORM. Alternatively, can either call the office at 780-985-3515 or email css@blackgold.ca
Here we are, with our first semester already passed! As we look ahead to the next semester, it is important that we ensure that our library resources used in the first semester have been returned and are available for future use. At this point daily reminders are being sent should your child have an outstanding item. Textbooks from the first semester are due by February 28th, with fees being added to student PowerSchool accounts for items not returned by this date. Should you have any questions about this process, feel free to contact the school.
Time for some library housecleaning. We are half way into month 2 of the second semester. Notices for over due books are being delivered to students who have not returned their books from the first semester. If you know of any text books that should be returned, please have your child return them. Fees will be added to powerschool on February 28th. Thank you for your understanding.
We are excited to announce our monthly fundraising events aimed at supporting students who will be traveling to Italy in November 2025. Your generous contributions are crucial to making this experience possible.
If you wish to support a specific student but are not aware of any individuals, you may contribute to the group fund under the name "Italy 2025." Alternatively, please contact our office for information on individual students who would benefit from your support.
Thank you for your commitment to enriching the educational journey of our students. Your support is greatly appreciated.
