In a few short hours I will be taking the opportunity to become your new school principal! I know that Mr. Lake is leaving big shoes to fill but I am excited to come and learn what it is like to be a Hawk and perhaps bring some of my knowledge from other schools to Calmar as well! For many years I was the shop teacher in Thorsby (Yes, I used to coach AGAINST Calmar on the regular!) before going to West Haven, Riverview Middle School, Thorsby (this time as principal), back to Riverview Middle School and now to Calmar! I hope to be able to settle down with all of you for a awhile so we can get to know each other! Looking forward to seeing you on Friday!

1. Mr. Klaassen, what obscure thing are you talented at? I can juggle… I can also cut a pretty mean dovetail... by hand!

2. Mr. Klaassen, if you could experience a moment of time of any person, what would it be? I’m not sure, but I very much appreciate those people who are willing to sacrifice of themselves for the greater good. Perhaps a day in the life of Terry Fox?

3. Mr. Klaassen, if one of your parents was the Prime Minister, what would be your first law? Well, let’s face in, the Prime Minister doesn’t just get to make laws. That isn’t how our democratic process works. If it did, though, I would likely be something about promoting working together! Or perhaps something that forces Chapters to bring back all the chairs they used to have for hanging out and reading!

4. Mr. Klaassen, which fictional character would you be best friends with in real life? Marty McFly- it would be awesome to go back to the past or sneak a peek of the future.

5. Mr. Klaassen, if someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be? Maybe, “Zen Shorts” - A collection of unexpected events. Or perhaps, “Learning to take Risks” - A young man’s journey with growth.
