We will be submitting our Peace Poster projects to the contest this week. Here are Macy and Sheyanne's art works reflecting their visions of the theme "Lead with Compassion".
Students are collaborating to use body language, facial expressions and spatial awareness to create tableaux. Today they created tableaux to represent fairy tales and scenes from every day life. Our final drama project will be to create and perform original tableaux for the song "The Call" during the Remembrance Day assembly.
Although these photos don't do the actual tableaux justice, can you recognize "Sleeping Beauty", "Beauty and the Beast" and "family road trip"?
In Math, students are investigating how to use multiples to solve problems. We are also working on communicating solutions clearly so that others can easily understand the strategies they use to solve problems.
In Ella's solution, she has used colour and a graphic organizer to make her strategy clear.
Students are learning how to identify literary devices in poetry and practising using them to add interest and impact to their writing.
Our writing project will be a poem with a Remembrance Day theme.
Today, in our discussion about multiples and factors, the class got into a great discussion about whether the number zero is even or odd. Sabian and Colin had similar explanations that zero is neither even nor odd because it represents "nothing" and that any number multiplied by zero is zero. Trinity and Kylie believe that zero is an even number because odd and even numbers alternate so if 2 is even and 1 is odd, then zero must be even. Everyone was so engaged in the discussion that we all decided to do our own research tonight. Stay tuned.
In addition to a costume parade around the neighbourhood, we took time to read each other's Halloween-themed short stories and share some critical feedback.
