Position: Civic Engagement Intern 


Position Description: Our team at CBI Charlotte has a unique opportunity for planning to address and elevate civic participation to a wider demographic, connecting and cultivating various perspectives to address Charlotte-specific needs. We are looking for an engaged and active intern to join our coordination and communications efforts.  

 

General Descriptions of the Role (10-15 hours per week)

This part-time role is designed to support community engagement activities of CBI Charlotte.   We seek a creative and socially engaged individual who will help accelerate the productivity of the CBI team with high-quality communications and teamwork. Reporting directly to the director this intern will serve as a key contributing member to the initiative.

 

Specific Responsibilities

-        In collaboration with members of the planning team, assists in the development of a Charlotte-specific network of alumni and stakeholders

-        Assists in the development of communications, social media engagement strategies, and narrative development

-        Understand and develop cross-sector partnerships spanning Mecklenburg County

-        Utilize project management terminology and software to assist in the management of multiple projects

 

General Qualifications

The ideal candidates should have:

1)     Enthusiasm for civic engagement activities focused on community building and social capital

2)     Poise and knowledge necessary to represent CBI

3)     Ability to manage several  tasks simultaneously

4)     Strong written communication skills

5)     Familiarity with and proficiency using Google Drive, Microsoft suite, and Social media platforms

 

Additional Notes:

This experience may require that the intern have occasional access to transportation for some community meetings and be willing to meet weekly via zoom for work sessions.  


Fluency in Spanish is a plus, not a requirement.
