This book about the Holy Spirit is a fun, easy read. Very well written! Great reminder that we were not left to get through this life on our own. Although we don't have the full picture now, we have an amazing helper!

Excellent book

This is a very well written, concise book on the Holy Spirit. I was impressed with how well it covered different aspects from "who" the Holy Spirit is (not merely "what"), how we interact with Him as Christ followers, how He interacts with us, as well as dispelling a lot of confusing myths and misbeliefs concerning Him.The writing is conversational and flows well. The only snag is how the 2 authors don't indicate which of them is giving a particular anecdote from their past. They do acknowledge this in the opening of the book, but I still found it took me out of the normal flow of reading a couple of times. That said, their writing styles complement each other and even blend together most of the time. The voice of the book is informative, relaxed, good-natured, and often humorous.I appreciated the refreshing, well-balanced take on this person of the Trinity. It focuses in on what the Bible has to say on the issue, which avoids the usual pitfalls of either entirely avoiding the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit in the modern church or diving headlong into a sideshow circus of manipulative weirdness.

After the first 3 chapters of what seemed like intro material to me, the book really began to vibrate with the Spirit of God. Bible verse, after Bible verse, after bible verse, the authors illuminate the purpose and place of the Holy Spirit in the life of a follower of Christ. Sometimes Christians authors interpret too much and quote God too little leaving me wondering if I am responding to God or the writer's facility with language. This book is more like a Bible study group conversation. I wanted to stand up and shout "YES!" so many times. My first dog-eared page lies in Chapter 5. A paragraph begins with Romans 8:16 (NLT) "His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children." I have always used this verse as confirmation of my salvation but Ferris and King have opened my eyes to more. The paragraph continues with a question "Have you ever tried, after you became a child of God, to hang around with people you used to hang around with?" (so uncomfortable post salvation!) "...It is the Holy Spirit letting you know that you are new. You do not belong in the same old places, among the same old crowd, doing the same old things." (and I thought I was just a bad friend). This is a wonderful book for young and experienced Christians desiring to better understand the role of the Holy Spirit. It is relational and on-target. Perhaps the Holy Spirit had something to do with that?

My book is full of highlighted text! This is definitely an area I feel isnt talked about a lot or explained in the way these authors explain it. It really leaves you with a new understanding of how the holy spirit is within you.These guys really make this educational and extremely relatable. Full of funny excerpts and some that make you feel you are not alone in the crazy thing we call life.I highly reccomend this book for any Christian out there that wants to understand more about the holy spirit and start working on feeling that inner peace we all look for.
