Here's the deal" Ignore the cover-poorly representative of the descriptions of Cody Mook (left) and Matt Connelly (right). Get past it.Get past the totally incomprehensible plotline--house hunters for the gay set except the house ain't a house, it's husband material.Get past--no, wait, DON't get past-- one of the great female characters ever invented for a contemporary gay romance--her first name is Martha, hold your breath and laughs. You will not get her out of your mindThis is a book with all the potential to fall flat on its face and yet it so slowly fills your balloon with helium that you can't quite get over how you've been suckered into getting through each chapter as you float alongCody is an idiot and Matt is a schmuck, but only when it comes to trying to define their relationship to each other. The plotline grabs you and bewilders you, the side romances are somehow very smart, and the dog solves everything eventually. Just change the cover--but not the words.

This book was a little odd for me, but I'm not a fan of this type of subject so don't use my words as a guide. It was a pretty good book, all and all. But I don't think I would really suggest this one to very many. Plus, the book was long...very long. Others might find it delightful. It just was so with me.

Rick Reed is the master of gay romance fiction and he outdoes himself with "Husband Hunters." It's a sweet tale of love between friends and even though you know what's going to happen from the very beginning, that doesn't lessen the read at all. The guys manage to get through several plot twists before the inevitable happens. I enjoyed every word.

I usually like this writer's books, but this was difficult to really relate to. The two best friends, whom we are told repetedly can talk about anything, don't really communicate at all. There are just too much going on in the book, too many side characters taking up too much time and the MC's are hardly together at all. When they are together the rule of "show, don't tell" is violated against repetedly, so I end up don't feeling like these two belong together at all. The changing POV isn't helping either. In the first half of the book we follow Cody closely most of the time and later on we follow Matt.Spoilers ahead: In the mountain scene Cody's reaction to Matt kissing him makes no sense. What he expresses out loud, making it seem that this is all new to him, we already knew that he was thinking months ago.This book has potential. The story idea is a nice one, that could have made a heartwarming, feel good story for sure, but then there must be re-writes. Quite some of them.

I'm not a fan of reality TV but this story about a faux reality show was a good romance. Touches of angst and soul searching help move the story from average to good. Good character development and an interesting supporting cast.
