Culver Tree Commission Donates Trees to CES Kindergarteners

CULVER- Culver Elementary School Kindergarteners were each given a baby tree to take home and plant in celebration of Arbor Day. The trees were donated by the Culver Tree Commission which was appointed by the Culver Town Council in 2005. Amy Bonine's Kindergarten Class along with Robin Broeker's 4th Grade Class worked together to take each tree and wrap in wet paper towel and place into a bag to ensure they would have adequate water until they are able to be planted.

The students learned the different parts of the tree as well as how to plant and the best areas to plant the trees in. The students were also taught how to care for their trees once they are planted and the importance of watering the trees with rain fall is minimal.

The Culver Tree Commission board of directors are: Mike Stalling, President; Dick Bantingham, Vice-President; John Helphrey, Secretary; Dennis Botdorff, Member at Large; Kevin VanHorn, Member at Large; and Ex-Officio, Rosalie Bonine.
