September 9, 2025 – Culver Community Schools Corporation (CCSC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Secured School Safety Grant (SSSG) from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for the eighth consecutive year. This year, CCSC received $63,367 in funding, which will support salaries for two School Resource Officers.
Student and staff safety remain a top priority for Culver Community Schools. The continued support from the SSSG program enables the district to strengthen security initiatives and maintain a safe learning environment for all. CCSC has utilized grant funding to complete critical safety projects, including a new elementary school entrance, district-wide fencing, updated security cameras, replacement of exterior doors, installation of a new PA system, and support for School Resource Officer positions.
The SSSG program is a highly competitive matching grant administered by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. This year, total eligible funding requests exceeded available program dollars. Priority was given to first-time applicants, which were fully funded for their top priorities, while regularly participating schools—including CCSC—received 92% of requested funding for their top items. Charter school groups were capped at $100,000 in funding for all schools within the group.
Since its inception in 2013, the Secured School Safety Grant has awarded more than $214 million to over 4,500 applicants across the state. The program continues to play a vital role in helping Indiana schools enhance security measures and ensure safer environments for students and staff.
These funds allow us to continue making student and staff safety a priority by investing in measures that directly impact the well-being of our school community.
