Two CCSC Staff Members Awarded Grants

Two Culver Community Staff Members were awarded grant funds each totaling $600 from the Cheryl Lynn Welter Charitable Foundation. Gretchen Johnson, Food Service Director, will use her funds to assist in a new kitchen program allowing students to have better access to nutritious food while not at school.

Sarah Kline, Preschool Teacher, will utilize her grant funds to create a sensory wall in her classroom. Sensory walls have been known to reduce anxiety, improve concentration and focus, and improve coordination along with fine-motor development.

The Cheryl Lyn Welter foundation honors the life of Cheryl Welter who passed away her senior year of high school in 2001. Cheryl was an avid people person who loved helping others. The foundation was put in place to help students in grades K-12 have opportunities to achieve goals they may not otherwise have the resources to achieve.
