Culver Elementary School Teachers Awarded Grants

CULVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS AWARDED $500 GRANTS

Two Culver Community Elementary School Teachers were each awarded a $500 grant thanks to the Cheryl Lynn Welter Foundation. The grants were presented by Harold Welter of the Cheryl Lynn Welter Foundation.

Pre-K teacher, Sarah Bailey will use her grant funds to purchase "Take home bags" for her preschool students. These bags will include stimulating, developmental and educational books, toys and materials. These resources will help with vocabulary development and mind stimulation.

CES Librarian Becky Risner will use her $500 to provide funds for students to purchase books at the book fair who otherwise couldn't afford to do so. This will help the students increase their choices at the book fair from the free books that are offered from the company.

The Cheryl Lynn Welter Foundation honors the life of Cheryl Welter who passed away her senior year of high school in 2001. Cheryl was an avid people person who loved helping others. The foundation was put in place to help students in grades K-12 have opportunities to achieve goals they may not otherwise have the resources to achieve.
