CCSC Wishes Yvonne Shepherd a Happy and Relaxing Retirement

After almost 23 years, Yvonne Shepherd has decided to retire from Culver Community Schools. She plans to spend more time with her family and her grandchildren. We asked Yvonne to reflect on her time at Culver and highlight some of her favorite memories.

How long have you worked at CCSC?

Yvonne: "I have worked at Culver Elementary for 22 years and 8 months. I was an aide and office sub for a few years before I was hired (back when aides and secretaries had subs). "

What positions have you held while at Culver?

Yvonne: "I was hired as a Teachers Aide, then a secretary. I have been in the office for 13+ years. I loved both positions but truly loved the office!"

What was your most memorable moment at Culver?

Yvonne: "There are so many memories, the ones that are close to my heart are ones with my children & grandchildren."

What will you miss most about working at Culver?

Yvonne: "I will miss staff & the smiles on children's faces! There are only a few of us left at CES that have been here over 20 years, they are like family to me"

What are your retirement plans?

Yvonne: "I hope to stay very busy with my kids & grandkids. My daughter, son in-law and 4 grandchildren live in Culver and they make my day everyday! My son and daughter in-law live in the Outer Banks, NC. I plan to travel when life gets a little more normal."

Who has been the most influential person to you while you have worked at CES?

Yvonne: "I would have to say Janet Overmyer was the most influential person to me. She was a wonderful secretary and trained me well for the office!"

Yvonne finished her interview with "I have loved working at CES!"

Thank you, Yvonne for your years of dedication to your job, the students and other staff. You will be missed but we wish you nothing but the best in your next chapter!
