‼️ Stay up to date with the July 2025 Chapters Brief!
This is an outline designed to bring community members closer together. It's a way to build trust, push boundaries and put ourselves out there.
This outline was developed by Gary Ware, San Diego Chapter Lead. He's the Founder of Breakthrough Play - Team building and creativity trainging for organizations. This could be facilitated online or in-person. This is a short exercise that is best used as a warm up or in addition to another exericse.
This exercise was designed to help emobody the principle of 'courage to be vulnerable.' There are three sections to this session:
Curious
Brave
Vulnerable
Invite participants to push boundaries, but they don’t have to participate in a question if they don’t feel comfortable exposing that. There are no lie detectors :-)
Mention that this type of play is a low stakes way to deal with high stakes situations at work.
To begin, you are going to read the below prompts. Feel free to make some of these your own or maybe tailer to them to your audience.
For in-person -
Have the group form a circle or have everyone be seated.
After each prompt, invite them to step into the circle, stand up or raise their hand if the statement is true for them.
Make sure you are creating an inclusive experience for your participants. Shift to hand raising if that is most appropriate in case participants are unable to stand or walk
For virtual -
Have everyone turn off their cameras
After each prompt, invite them to turn on their camera or use the raise hand feature on zoom if the statement is true for them.
Ensure that participants will be engaging rather than passively watching
