‼️ Stay up to date with the September 2025 Chapters Brief!
Dear Chapter Leads,
Welcome to the second edition of "The Chapters Brief" newsletter! We are excited to bring you this monthly publication packed with valuable insights, resources, and updates to support your journey as culture-first leaders. We're thrilled to embark on this journey together, sharing best practices, facilitating connections, and amplifying the incredible work happening across our global chapters.
Out of Office
Jessie is going to be completely offline from June 29th - July 17th. She's taking some much needed time off for a spiritual retreat in Bali. 🌴 She'll be doing yoga, meditating and hanging by the beach. 🧘♀️
If you need anything, lean on one another for support. Ask questions in the #leads-all channel in slack or send a fellow lead a DM with questions. You can also always reach out to DeMario Bell, Senior Community Manager (Digital), but please only do this if you really need it!! If it's an emergency, call 911.
Join us at CultureCon Madison
We are excited to have a presence one again at CultureCon Madison. This event is August 16th - 17th and will bring together nationally renowned workplace culture experts who will share their insights and best practices for building a positive and productive work environment.
To support our community members in getting there, we have a special 30% discount on tickets when you use the code 'CULTUREFIRST.' We encourage you to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to connect with industry leaders and gain valuable knowledge that can benefit your chapters.
Help us spread the word by sharing this event on LinkedIn and other platforms. Additionally, I will be sharing my own excitement about attending to drive traffic and encourage the use of the discount code. The success of promoting this event can lead to more opportunities for our community with this conference and other people and culture-focused events. *hint - trying to get us another discount with Culture Summit
If you're attending, join us in the #culturecon-madisn-23 channel in Slack for updates.
Quarterly Reimbursements / Expenses
As you know, per quarter, each chapter is allocated a maximum of USD$300 and an additional USD$300 is available to host a pre-approved workshop per quarter.
We have a new policy!
If you would like to use two workshop credits and forego your $300USD, you are now welcome to do so. Please notify Jessie and let her know which workshops you will be booking.
If you would like to forego your workshop credit and instead have $600USD for the quarter, you now can. However, you MUST get approval of this from Jessie in advance! This is very important!!
You cannot use your full $600USD to pay for a pre-approved workshop. Those have been pre-negotiated and can only make $300 unless they are co-hosting with another chapter.
Here is the link to the updated policy.
**Lastly, please make sure to get your Q2 expenses submitted before June 30th!!!
Level Up Your Facilitation Skills: Enhance Engagement and Creativity with Climer Cards and Metaphors
This session was an exclusive event designed to support our global chapter leads of the Culture First community. It was hosted on May 31st. In this session, we focused on enhancing our facilitation skills and learning valuable tips on how to host better gatherings.
Facilitated by Dr. Amy Climber, a speaker, trainer, and coach in creativity, innovation, team development, and leadership, this event will introduce us to Climer Cards—an effective tool for promoting team building and creativity. You'll also learn how to engage your community members and event attendees through the power of metaphors. Discover how metaphors and images can effortlessly convey feelings, experiences, and concepts, fostering better understanding and connection among participants.
"The Three Keys to Connection: How to turn strangers into community in minutes"
This session was designed to support our global chapter leads of the Culture First community. It was hosted on June 15th. In this engaging and interactive session, we enhanced our facilitation skills and learned some more tips on how to host better gatherings.
Facilitated by Jenny Sauer-Klein, Founder & CEO, Scaling Intimacy School of Experience Design. Jenny is passionate about designing transformational experiences that prioritize connection over content, and regularly consults for organizations like Google, Airbnb, Dropbox and the Haas School of Business. She is the founder and CEO of the Scaling Intimacy School of Experience Design, which trains event leaders to strategically weave connection into the fabric of their events.
She created Play On Purpose, a video tutorial library with over 80 of her best virtual and in-person team building games, to support facilitators to confidently engage and connect groups and teams. She is also the founder and director of The Culture Conference, an invite-only event for organizational leaders who are committed to shifting culture from the inside out. In her previous career as the co-founder of AcroYoga, she successfully scaled an international brand, community and organization with millions of practitioners.

The Bevy Organizer App
It's very important to check your attendees in for your events. This engagement metric is an important metric to determine the success of our community. The number of people showing up over and over again isn't as important as the community members that are continuing to show up over and over again at our gatherings.
It can be easy to forget to do this especially for your in-person events.
Bevy has created an Organizer App you can download on your phone!
Here are instructions on how to download and use the Bevy Organizer App.
Lastly, we recently hosted two training sessions on Bevy, covering both the basics (101 session) and more advanced features (201 session) of the platform. The sessions covered a range of topics, including co-hosting events, community communications (newsletters, email copy, cancelling/rescheduling emails), event promotion, forms (pre-registration and follow-up surveys), and analytics. If you missed the sessions, don't worry—they were recorded and can be viewed on the wiki at any time.
LinkedIn Accelerator
Sarah Giencke, Madison Chapter Lead, has organized a LinkedIn accelerator for our chapter leads. What's a LI accelerator? The goal of the accelerator is to have a bunch of people post on the same day, at the same time, and then comment/like on each other's posts, to boost the traction and impressions on the post. Ex: In order to get to the first "tier" in LinkedIn, you need at least 10 likes and a few comments.
If you're interested in participating in this, ping us on slack in the #leads-all channel.
CultureCon Webinar
Join Jessie with the CultureCon community on June 22nd for a free and interactive session designed specifically for people and culture leaders to prioritize their mental health and wellbeing. As P&C (people & culture) professionals, we have been focused on the wellbeing of our organizations, colleagues, and loved ones. Now, it's time to prioritize ourselves so that we can continue to show up for those who need us.
At this event, we will be taking Culture Amp's Wellbeing Checkup assessment, which is designed to help you reflect on your own wellbeing as an P&C professional. Whether you are working remotely, on the front lines, or returning to the workplace, this assessment will help you identify areas where you may need to focus on to improve your mental health.
*Jessie has built a gathering guide for this session in case you are interested in facilitating this with your chapters. Here's the link to the guide on the wiki.
