Mark you calendars and join The Classical Academies at Valley View Casino Center (Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego) for Charter School Night with San Diego’s very own AHL hockey team the San Diego Gulls on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Students for Life Club

Join CAHS Students for Life in celebrating this season of giving by helping those who are in need! Starting next week there will be a donation drive to benefit Birth Choice, a local pregnancy resource center. Birth Choice offers support and resources to women experiencing unplanned pregnancies, single mothers, and new parents.

From December 11-19 (the week and a half before winter break) boxes will be set up around the school to collect a variety of baby items to donate to the clinic (see flyer attached). If you donate to the drive (regardless the number of items), you will be able to record it as one hour of community service!

Spring Schedule Change Requests:

We are unable to process email and phone call requests. Please use the Google link above. Please note that teacher and period

requests will not be honored and that many classes are full and this limits class changes.

All requests will need to be made

by 3:30p.m. on FRIDAY, December 14th .

Parents will be notified via email whether the request was granted or denied by December 19th .


College Visits: Please check Naviance for a listing of College/University visits. There are up to 30 universities currently scheduled to visit our campus.


IMPORTANT: AP TEST REGISTRATION- DUE DECEMBER 15th without the penalty of a late fee

The New Online AP Exam registration will begin on Mon, Sep 24, 2018 at 12:00 AM and end on Wed, Mar 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM. In order to register, students should click on the link that will be provided on Schoology or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/054194.

Classical Academy High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning your online registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made and gives the option of avoiding mailing payment. Families do have the option of paying by check, although registration will not be finalized and complete until payment has been received and processed by Total Registration.

Fri, Feb 15, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $40 late fee per registration.

Wed, Mar 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registration Ends

Mon, Mar 11, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations that have not been paid for will be cancelled and exams will not be ordered.

Sat, Dec 15, 2018 at 11:59 PM - Last day to cancel an exam and receive a full refund.

Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Last day to cancel an exam with a cancellation fee of $30.00.

Want to meet with the counselors? Parents and Students are welcome at lunch on Wednesday, December 12th or Wednesday, January 23rd in room 107 for any questions regarding college or graduation requirements.

2019-2020 Course Selections are right around the corner!

The Counseling Dept will be holding grade specific course selection presentations for students and parents during the month of February. Additionally, they will be holding Parent Meetings during student lunch on Wednesdays and Friday Mornings through the month of February. Be looking in the following Communiques for specific meeting dates and times. At this time, we are asking that parents hold their questions until those meetings since we are busy planning and making important decisions for what will be offered and presented next year.

FAFSA:

The 2019-2020 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now live as of October 1st! Use the FAFSA form to apply for financial aid for college now. Some states and schools have limited funds, so complete your application today.

NEW FAFSA APP:

The U.S. Department of Education has given the FAFSA a new look: A smartphone application for iOS and Android devices. This new mobile FAFSA app. will allow students easier access as they apply for financial aid. The app. has step by step instructions as students fill out their FAFSA application.

Seniors- College Application Time is Now! Please Review the College Application Info Below:

Seniors requesting transcripts to be sent to colleges: Please make sure you request transcripts through Naviance or through the Common Application. Please note that Naviance is not linked to the Common Application.

If you are requesting through Naviance, here is a link with step by step instructions on how to request letters of recommendation and transcripts through Naviance:

If you are needing teacher's or counselor letters of recommendation, you will need to request them through Naviance, by selecting their name and/or the Common Application by putting in their email address and asking them personally. All letters of recommendation need to be requested 2-3 weeks in advance of the deadline. If you have a deadline of November 1st for your college application, please be sure to request your counselor and teacher recommendations by no later than October 17th.

CSU Applications: Planning to apply to a CSU? CSU Fall 2019 application opened on October 1st and ends December 15th. Visit Calstate.edu/apply now to apply.

UC Applications: Planning to apply to a UC? UC Fall 2019 applications open on November 1st and close December 15th. Visit https://admissions.universityofcalifornia.edu.


IMPORTANT:With prospective students, their families and communities facing hardship due to the wildfires affecting the entire state, the California State University will extend the priority application deadline for admission to the fall 2019 term to 11:59 PM on December 15, 2018, for all applicants.

These are hard deadlines!

Common Application: Please check your college application on the Common Application. The first of many deadlines are October 15th and November 15th.

Please remember that ALL High School Staff will be celebrating the holidays with their families, so it is important to get your requests in before the breaks. If you have not made your requests, they must be made ASAP. Teachers and Counselors will be on break for Christmas and will not be available to help with applications or letters during this time.

Palomar Promise:

We are excited to announce that the Palomar College FYE-Promise application for 2019- 2020 is now available. We encourage you to visit the Palomar Promise website for more information regarding eligibility, requirements and steps to apply. The website can be found at: http://www.palomar.edu/palomarpromise

For 2019-2020, we have expanded access to our Promise program, and removed the local district area and recent grad year restrictions. Also instead of a deadline, we will be taking applications on a first-come, first-served basis (pending program application submission, FAFSA/Dream Act receipt, and full-time enrollment).

To be eligible for 2019-2020 Palomar Promise, applicants must:

  • Be a first-time college student (units earned through dual/concurrent enrollment are exempt)

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent

  • Be a California resident or from an eligible exempt group (i.e. AB 540 or military dependent)

  • Complete, submit and have on record with Palomar College the FAFSA or California Dream Act application

  • Complete the First-Year Experience (FYE) – Palomar Promise application

  • Enroll full-time (a minimum of 12 units) per semester throughout the first year

UCI School of Medicine Department of Urology Presents:

The 2019 Summer Surgery Program!! Join us this summer!

The Department of Urology at UCI Health is once again hosting its Summer Surgery Program for high school students. This program allows students to gain hands-on, once in a lifetime experience in the fields of surgery and medicine. This summer, we’re offering two, two-week sessions for mature high school students at least 16 years old who have excelled academically. Space is limited to 24 students per session. Given the intimacy of the program and nature of the instruction, program tuition is $4,550 per student, or $5,850 with room and board for out of town/ international students. To apply for UC Irvine’s Summer Surgery Program, students must be at least 16 years old, have a minimum GPA of 3.5, and be currently enrolled in high school (2018 senior graduates welcome).

Field of Faith Basketball Season

Field of Faith kicks off the 2019 basketball season on January 21 and will run for 11 weeks. Sign up now to reserve a spot for your 1st-8th grade athlete. Cost is $180 per student.
