Course Schedule Change Requests

If you would like to request adding or dropping a course, please have a parent use the link below. Schedule change requests must be filled out and turned in by Friday, September 4 at 3pm. We will only accept request changes via the Google link below. Please do not email or call the office to request a change. Mrs. Fletcher will notify you via email by September 7th if your schedule request was denied otherwise it was accommodated and you may view the new course schedule in Pathways. In order to make schedules work for all students, we are not able to accommodate specific teacher or period requests. Please note that most classes are full and requested course schedule changes will be extremely limited.

Distance Learning Behavior Expectations

At CAHS we expect all students to be RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, & SAFE. Distance learning and online learning platforms are an extension of the classroom. Students are expected to adhere to the Caiman Code of Conduct outlined in the CAHS Student Handbook whether in person or online.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU CAN ENTER HOURS IN GROUPS IF DONE AT THE SAME PLACE/ORGANIZATION. For example, you volunteered from June to September at a Homeless Shelter- 6/14/2020-9-17/2021. Completed 45 hours during that time.

By entering this information in and electronically submitting it, you are signing that the information is true and correct. CAHS does make calls to check and make sure the information is accurate.

*Note: Please make sure to keep track of your community service hours since we are no longer keeping paper copies on file. You can either keep an excel spreadsheet or take screen shots of the hours you turn in on the online log. This would be for your own information if you ever wanted to go back to check what you completed.

Seeking Students! - Help PAVE change the world by becoming a PAVER.

Let’s bring PAVE back!!!

Are you looking to influence the community and culture on campus? PAVE is a student run club, that gives students the opportunity to create an inclusive and warm community of survivor focused information and support on their campus.

PAVE is a movement creating a world free from sexual violence and building communities to support survivors.

PROMOTING AWARENESS | VICTIM EMPOWERMENT

Affordable Internet and Computers

During this time of required in-home learning, internet companies are committed to helping families in need to receive affordable home internet access. Qualifying families with children in grades K-12 are eligible for discounted high speed home internet. Visit Cox Connect2Compete or AT&T Stay Connected. If your family is in need of a home computer, Computers for Kids is offering refurbished computers to those in need. Visit Computers for Kids for more information.

This consent form is extremely important for students to be able to fully participate in live classroom ZOOM meetings.


Technology Update and Chromebook Request

To support academic learning and complete assigned coursework in including live virtual classes, The Classical Academies will have Chromebooks available for students to check out for the duration of distance learning. (Please only request a chromebook if you do not have a working computer for distance learning. These devices will need to be returned to the school at the end of the school year or whenever learning returns to the classroom. To request a Chromebook for your student, please fill out the 2020-2021 Chromebook Request Form. Please submit your request as soon as possible. If your request is received by Wednesday, August 12, 2020, you can pick up your chromebook during your Gear Up appointment. Please bring the signed Technology Checkout Form with you when you pick up the Chromebook. *If you complete the form after August 12, 2020, we will communicate with you when and where you will pick up your device.

Social Emotional Counseling

Welcome Back Caimans!

Hello, I am Ms. Hughes and I am your School Counselor!

I am here to help you understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, establish and maintain positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and whatever else you may be facing.

During this time, I am hosting meetings through Zoom and by phone. Please reach out if I can help in any way by filling out this Counseling Referral Form

Also, look out each Wednesday on Schoology for my Wellness Wednesday videos. In them you will find lots of good tips to help you in all areas of life. Each month we dive into a new BIG topic.

I will "see" you Wednesdays and hope that you reach out if you need some extra support.

Sports Update

High school sports have seen some significant changes for the upcoming school year. At this point, CIF is proposing to combine all three seasons of sport into two, fall and spring seasons. Fall/Winter sports will start practicing December 14th and Spring sports will start March 14th. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.

We are continuing to host our “Caiman Way” athletics meeting electronically due to COVID - 19 restrictions. Please watch the videos from our principal and athletic director and then fill out the interest form for the sport(s) you are interested in. Also, download the Caiman Sports App, complete your athletic clearance paperwork, and help us with an athletic donation to the NCEF. Thank you Caimans!!!

Virtual College Visits:

Colleges have been reaching out to set up visits via Zoom with CAHS students. Please log in to Naviance for all upcoming virtual college visits designed for CAHS students only and for access to register for the Zoom link to attend. These virtual college visit dates and Zoom links will also be posted on Schoology under the Academic & College Counseling page.

Please note, there are hundreds of virtual college visits currently available for students to attend. You can find these virtual visit opportunities for all students across the country by going to the “Colleges” tab in your Naviance Student account and then clicking on “College Events”.

PSAT Update:

Attention 11th graders: If you are currently in 11th grade and signed up at Gear Up for the PSAT then please note that The College Board has scheduled a new testing date. The PSAT has been moved to Tuesday, January 26th. More information and details to follow.


Virtual College Planning Night for Juniors: Juniors and parents please plan on watching our virtual informational college planning night held on September 17th at 6:00pm.

AP TEST REGISTRATION

Please be checking the Monday News for more information on AP Registration. AP teachers will be handing out Join Codes in early September. This will be a simple 2 step process. Students will register on The College Board AND will then need to pay on Total Registration in order to have an exam ordered.

Did you take a Summer Class or a Concurrent Enrollment Course?

If so, you must request an official transcript to be sent to the CAHS Registrar, Elenna Uribe. No credit will be given until this official transcript has been received.

Concurrent Enrollment

Did you sign up for a Concurrent Enrollment course this Fall? If so, please be sure to send proof of enrollment ASAP to Ms. Uribe at euribe@classicalacademy.com. A screenshot of your registration showing your name, the course name, and the term will suffice.

Want to meet with the counselors?

The Academic Counselors have set virtual Q&A meetings for parents to start off the 2020-2021 school year. Please bring any questions regarding credits, graduation planning, college applications, etc. The dates and times are listed below:

2021/2022 College Admissions

If you are a current senior, please note that Cal State, UC universities and many, many others are no longer requiring the SAT or ACT as a part of the admissions process. Some universities however are offering an SAT on their own campuses with scores that cannot be transferred but are using those results for scholarship purposes. Please check with your list of colleges/universities to see what they are requiring for both admissions and for merit scholarships.


Seniors- College Application Time is Now! Please Review the College Application Info Below:

Seniors requesting transcripts to be sent to colleges: Please make sure you request transcripts through Naviance or through the Common Application. Please note that Naviance is not linked to the Common Application.

If you are requesting through Naviance, here is a link with step by step instructions on how to request letters of recommendation and transcripts through Naviance:

If you are needing teacher or counselor letters of recommendation, you will need to request them through Naviance, by selecting their name and/or the Common Application by putting in their email address and asking them personally. All letters of recommendation need to be requested 2-3 weeks in advance of the deadline. If you have a deadline of November 1st for your college application, please be sure to request your counselor and teacher recommendations by no later than October 16th.

CSU Applications: Planning to apply to a CSU? CSU Fall 2020 application opened on October 1st and ends December 4th. Visit Calstate.edu/apply now to apply.

UC Applications: Planning to apply to a UC? UC Fall 2020 applications open on November 1st and close November 30th. Visit https://admissions.universityofcalifornia.edu.


SENIORS: If you are using the Common Application for college admissions, please invite your counselor on the site. A counselor recommendation is required. Please provide counselors with your brag sheets or resume and allow 2 weeks for letters to be written. The brag sheet template can be found in the link below. Please make a copy and share it with your counselor once it is completed.
