We would love to know where our students are being accepted! Many of our students are being accepted to great colleges all around the country. It is important that you mark all the colleges that have accepted you in Naviance. You do this by logging in to your Naviance account , click on the pencil edit icon in the "Colleges I am Applying to List" then mark the result.
IMPORTANT: AP TEST REGISTRATION- Classical Academy High School's AP Registration has will have an additional late fee beginning 11:59 PM on Tuesday, Jan 15, 2019.
The New Online AP Exam registration will begin on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 12:00 AM and end on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM. In order to register, students should click on the link that will be provided on Schoology or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/054194.
Classical Academy High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning your online registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made and gives the option of avoiding mailing payment. Families do have the option of paying by check, although registration will not be finalized and complete until payment has been received and processed by Total Registration.
Here are the important dates for the registration process:

● Sat, Dec 15, 2018 at 11:59 PM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $10 late fee per registration.
● Tues, Jan 15, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $20 late fee per registration.
● Fri, Feb 15, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $40 late fee per registration.
● Wed, Mar 6, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registration Ends
● Mon, Mar 11, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Registrations that have not been paid for will be cancelled and exams will not be ordered.
● Sat, Dec 15, 2018 at 11:59 PM - Last day to cancel an exam and receive a full refund.
● Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 11:59 PM - Last day to cancel an exam with a cancellation fee of $30.00.

2019/2020 Course Selections are right around the corner!
The Counseling Department will be holding grade specific course selection presentations for students and parents during the month of February. Additionally, they will be holding Parent Meetings on Friday mornings through the month of February.
At this time, we are asking that parents hold their questions until those meetings since we are busy planning and making important decisions for what will be offered and presented next year.
2019/2020 Studio Course Selection Procedures:
The counseling department will be holding grade level specific course selection information meetings for the 2019/2020 school year starting:
Tues. February, 5th Junior class meets during Cohort in Caiman Hall
Mon. February, 11th Junior course selections due Online at Noon
Tues. February, 12th Sophomore class meets during Cohort in Caiman Hall
Mon. February, 18th Sophomore course selections due Online at Noon
Tues. February, 19th Freshman class meets during Cohort in Caiman Hall
Mon. February, 25th Freshman course selections due Online at Noon
Students will receive their course selection packet when they arrive to their grade specific course selection meeting. Parents will have until the following Monday to discuss class choices with students and submit their course selection online. There will not be individual meetings; instead parents are invited to attend these Cohort meetings in Caiman Hall with their students. The Cohort meetings will be at 11:20am-12pm on the above dates.
It is critical that students attend Cohort on their assigned days in order to hear important course selection information. Counselors will plan to hold an open student walk-in Q&A's during lunchtime the weeks of February 5th - 22nd in Room 107. Students can come and ask for help with checking their credits and get advice on their course selections.
If parents are unable to attend the Cohort meeting with their student, the counselors will be holding course selection Question & Answer meetings.

The FAFSA (The Free Application for Federal Student Aid) site will open October 1st and will be based on the prior, prior tax year. In order to be considered for the CAL Grant, the FAFSA must be completed no later than March 2nd. Keep in mind that funds are limited, so please consider getting it filled out earlier.

The U.S. Department of Education has given the FAFSA a new look: A smartphone application for iOS and Android devices. This new mobile FAFSA app. will allow students easier access as they apply for financial aid. The app. has step by step instructions as students fill out their FAFSA application.

The NACAC National College Fair is coming up on Thursday, April 18th and will be held at the San Diego Convention Center. This event is free and open to the public. Palomar Promise:
We are excited to announce that the Palomar College FYE-Promise application for 2019- 2020 is now available. We encourage you to visit the Palomar Promise website for more information regarding eligibility, requirements and steps to apply. The website can be found at: http://www.palomar.edu/palomarpromise
For 2019-2020, we have expanded access to our Promise program, and removed the local district area and recent grad year restrictions. Also instead of a deadline, we will be taking applications on a first-come, first-served basis (pending program application submission, FAFSA/Dream Act receipt, and full-time enrollment).
To be eligible for 2019-2020 Palomar Promise, applicants must:
Be a first-time college student (units earned through dual/concurrent enrollment are exempt)
Be a high school graduate or equivalent
Be a California resident or from an eligible exempt group (i.e. AB 540 or military dependent)
Complete, submit and have on record with Palomar College the FAFSA or California Dream Act application
Complete the First-Year Experience (FYE) – Palomar Promise application

Athletics
Swimming or Diving Update
Interested in swimming or diving? If you were unable to attend the Spring sports meeting last night, but want to swim or dive, please follow the link below and fill out the form. Our first practice is this coming Monday, February 4th, from 11:00-2:00pm at James Stone pool (across the street in the Center for the Arts parking lot). Don't forget you must have all of your sports clearances completed before you can get in the water, so please get that done ASAP if you haven't already. Beach Volleyball
Beach season is right around the corner. I'm so excited to begin training! This year the season has been pushed back a few weeks so I wanted to give you a quick update on start dates and practice times.
The first practice will be on Feb 11th (Monday) from 11:00-1:00 at Mission Hills Church. All practices are on on Mondays 11:00-1:00 and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30. There will be an optional captains practices on the weekends. More info to follow.
Games days will be held on Thursdays. Important dates:
February 28th: First League Match
May 2nd - 4th: League Playoffs
May 18th: State Playoffs for the Open Champion
The league schedule will not be finished till February. All games will be held on Thursdays, unless there is a reschedule due to rain or court availability.

Athletic Packet: Athletic Packets are due by Friday, February 1st to the front office in order to be ready to practice. Players are not allowed to practice without a completed Athletic Packet, including a sports physical. Athletes who have already completed the athletic packet for fall or winter sports do not have to complete a new one.
Electronic Athletic Clearance Packet Directions:
Academy High School has partnered with Rank One Sport Management to provide online form completion for all the required district mandated forms for participation in extracurricular activities.
The only forms in addition to this are the medical history and physical examination forms, which need to be printed off and taken to the doctor who is performing the physical and returned to the front office.

-Choose the option of your choice.
By creating a parent account, you will be able to access documents, track eligibility of
your student athlete, management notification preferences, and more!
-You will be directed to the first page of participation forms.
-Parent/Guardian and the student will need to physically sign each form by holding the mouse over the space and signing the form. You may also use a tablet to complete the forms so that you may sign using your finger or a stylus.
-Click the SUBMIT form and the form will be completed and submitted. The next form should automatically come up.
-Complete and sign each form in the Electronic Forms dropdown menu.
-In order to submit a copy of insurance card, you will need to upload a .jpeg, .jpg, .png, or .gif file of your insurance card.
Once all have been completed; and the medical history and physical exam form has been turned into the FRONT DESK (Not a coach), the student will be eligible to participate.

Community Events
Earn Community Service Hours working at a Feeding San Diego Distribution Site
Every Sunday, Feeding San Diego at St. Bart’s Church in Poway is open to serve anyone who needs food. Groceries are donated from Sprout’s and Target and redistributed to anyone in need. Volunteer shifts are from 1:30-3:00 and the work involves sorting food, setting up, distributing items and cleaning up. Sign-up just once or every once in a while. We’d love to have you work with us.
