The PHE department is currently hosting a school-wide fundraising program to raise money for RUN, a Hong Kong-based charity that rehabilitates vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers through sports, education and beyond. Through the format of a running challenge, each Year 7 to 11 PHE class has established their own fundraising goal based around how far they can run in 25 minutes over the course of 12 lessons. All funds will go directly to RUN and will be used towards their different programs.
This time period is difficult for everybody, but especially so for the refugee community in HK. Refugee children are suffering from a lack of resources to fully participate in online classes while maintaining good health and well being. This is drastically reducing the quality of their online education. Refugee children are not able to experience virtual learning to the same capacity as CIS children. Many are lacking communication devices such as computers, phones and other devices. They lack stable WiFi, earphones and their own space to participate in lessons.
Therefore, we encourage parents to support this initiative taken by CIS students by sponsoring them through this running challenge, and in turn supporting the vulnerable refugee community in Hong Kong.
