Dear all,
We are the Clean Air Student Council, a group of secondary school students in Hong Kong who aim to spread awareness on air pollution, whilst inspiring and educating other students in Hong Kong to do the same.
We are writing to you to inform you about our annual Hong Kong Environmental Writers' Competition. This event has been organized by the Clean Air Student Council in collaboration with Clean Air Network, Hong Kong.
This competition is open to all secondary school students in Hong Kong and we are delighted to have your school join us in this. We hope you can spread the message to the students in your school and get them involved.
WHAT IS IT?
The annual Hong Kong Environmental Writers’ Competition 2020 is designed for students to become more aware of the environment around them and have them research in-depth about matters relating to the environment that they find important. This also allows students to express their thoughts through writing and develop their skills in research.
The winners of the Hong Kong Environmental Writers’ Competition will be announced during the Hong Kong Air Pollution Conference scheduled for December 2020. It is advised to attend the Hong Kong Air Pollution Conference in order to redeem prizes.
Prizes are as follows:
- Senior (ages 14+): 3,000 HKD
- Junior (ages 12+): 2,000 HKD
- All participants will receive certificates as well

To further our work and impact, we host an annual fundraising banquet and auction, which will be conducted virtually this year on Oct 9th. This event brings together many of Hong Kong's most influential professionals, and last year we raised over $1.5 million USD in one evening. We're looking for volunteers to help us in the following ways:
8 guest attendants
Guest attendants are present to assist guests with questions that they might have during the night. If your friends like to interact with people, that'll be great for it! They would need to be at Aberdeen Marina Club on Friday Oct 9th from 6:30-10PM. There will be a short training through Zoom prior to the date of the event.
4-5 Zoom Co-Hosts
A virtual role, so they can do it from wherever they are. They'll need to be available for a rehearsal on October 5th from 5PM onwards, and 7:30-10PM on October 9th. Their tasks are to:
1) Welcome guests as they dial into their Zoom meeting rooms.
2) Highlight important points made during the hour-long presentation and post them in Zoom meeting chatbox
3) Advise guests on zoom features (breakout rooms, speaker view, mute, etc); there's a bigger need for help on this last task, so whoever wants to be a tech co-host can sign up through this form: https://bit.ly/31YlNPQ
Additionally, they can also sign up as banquet simulation guests (if they're not zoom co-Hosts) to help us with the rehearsal on October 5th from 5PM onwards. Here's the sign up form: https://bit.ly/3hxWton. But this is not the priority, the guest attendants and Zoom co-Hosts are more important.
If interested, please contact Kaitlyn Wells at mingyi2000@gmail.com or 67995233 on Whatsapp. Thank you for the consideration!
