Academic misconduct is a serious offense that undermines the integrity of the educational process.
Capital College is committed to maintaining high academic standards and will not tolerate any form of academic dishonesty.
If a student is found guilty of academic misconduct, they may face one or more of the following disciplinary measures:
1. Warning Letter: A formal letter of warning will be issued to the student. This letter serves as an official notice of the misconduct and a reminder of the student's responsibilities and obligations under the College's academic integrity policy. The warning letter will be kept on the student's record.
2. Academic Probation: The student may be placed on academic probation for a specified period. During this time, the student's academic performance and conduct will be closely monitored. Any further instances of misconduct may lead to more severe penalties.
3. Course or Project Failure: The student may receive a failing grade for the course or project in which the misconduct occurred. This could significantly impact the student's overall academic performance and progress.
4. Suspension: The student may be suspended from the College for a specified period. During this time, the student will not be allowed to attend classes, use College facilities, or participate in College activities.
5. Expulsion: In severe cases, the student may be expelled from the College. Expulsion is the most serious penalty and results in the permanent dismissal of the student from the College.
6. Referral to Authorities: If the misconduct involves illegal activities, the matter may be referred to the relevant authorities for further action. This could result in legal consequences for the student.
7. No Refund of Fees: Students who are expelled or suspended due to academic misconduct will not be eligible for a refund of any course fees.
These penalties are not exhaustive and may be combined depending on the severity and frequency of the misconduct. The College reserves the right to impose other penalties as deemed appropriate. All students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and honesty at all times.
