Guided Discourse is an excellent reteaching strategy when at least half of a group understood the concept or skill and can support others’ understanding. It typically starts by having two work samples, one that met the standard and one that shows a misconception. Through discourse, students explain a skill or coach peers to better understanding. Guided discourse is most effective when talk structures and discourse are a part of a regular classroom routines.
