A Gallery Walk allows students to be actively engaged as they walk throughout the classroom. While it can be used in any phase of the instructional model, it is being highlighted in Demonstrate Unit Learning as a method for showcasing mastery of standards towards the end of a unit of learning.
How it works:
A handful of students share their culminating project, writing pieces, ect. at key point around the room. This in the Share Group. There is a chart paper near each student with guiding questions and success criteria.
The rest of the students form small groups and rotate to each of the Share Students.
Students listen, ask questions and give feedback either on the chart paper or on a Peer Feedback Slip as the students share their learning.
Variation Tip! Gallery Walk Test Prep is highly effective.
Choose 6 commonly missed items/problems/concepts.
Prep 6 chart papers with the 6 items.
Groups rotate through & solve together on their own paper.
Class discussion about which items were challenging or easy and why.
Each group them solves one they got correct on the chart paper.
All groups gallery walk tooo check their own, reflect and fix misconceptions.
