Levels PK-12 Content - Any
Students take reflective notes on bookmark sized pieces of paper. The bookmarks include questions, observations, and words from the reading that strike the reader as interesting or effective (Samway, 2006 from Seidlitz, p.89). Alternatively, students can also use the bookmark to record text evidence to support a specific claim or prompt a teacher or peer poses. Then, that bookmark becomes formative data as well as a tool for any collaborative talk structure.
PRO TIP! Sticky notes work too and are no prep. Remember to have students include their name.
