Skills for Work Hospitality N5


Skills for work hospitality  level 5 course focus on generic employability skills needed for the success in the workplace. The course offers pupils the opportunities to learn these skills through a variety of practical experiences that are linked to vocational areas e.g. front of house, serving customers, planning and implementing an event as part of a team.

On completion of the S3 NPA practical cookery course, pupils will continue develop their self-confidence and have a chance to work on the practical skills that relate to the world of work providing a real benefit to learners.

The course provides progression pathways to further education, training and employment.

The course consists of 5 units to develop knowledge of the whole hospitality industry.

Unit 1 Developing skills for working in hospitality.

Unit 2 Developing skills for working in the professional kitchen.

Unit 3 Front of House operations.

Unit 4 Events.

Unit 5  Work-based Skills Challenge

Pupils should have a high attendance level and are always required to be fully committed to the subject. Pupils will need to work to deadlines, work in a team, come fully prepared for all lessons and at times provide some ingredients for practical lessons along with an apron and a container.

Assessments are ongoing throughout the course and include research and written work as well as role play and oral work. There is 1 only unit with  practical cookery work the rest is theory based,  while near the end of the course all pupils are involved in showcasing in an Event to guests while working as part of a team.
