Prince's Trust

The Prince’s Trust programme is designed to help enhance the employability of a young learner and help prepare them for the world of work when they leave school (in line with what they might learn in PSE, for example). It mainly targets pupils who, for various reasons (be it academic, social or attendance barriers) would struggle to leave school with five National 5 awards. Each completed unit earns the learner credits, where after two units the pupils receive an award and can also work towards further certificates by completing 6, 9 and 13 units respectively. The Timeline below is an ideal guide – but it is also flexible and depends on the class in terms of size, resources, and the nature of the young learners. Each unit is assessed through specific outcomes where evidence is gathered that meet specific criteria which, when finished, is marked, internally verified, and recorded on the Prince’s Trust Qualifications portal.
