“How was your day Amanda?”
“It was great. I learned about how to become president and how many times you can be elected.”
“Wow, that's amazing that school teaches you that kind of stuff.”
I loved walking home with my mom's arms around my shoulders and my arms around her waist. We would always walk home like this. Never once did I have to walk home by myself.
My mom doesn’t have a lot of money to pay for food. My dad left us about three weeks after I was born. I’ve never even seen him, not even in a picture, because he took all of them. My mom told me he was a really nice guy but she never really knew why he left. I have so many questions about him and why he really left, but whenever I ask about him she start to cry and this made me stop asking about him.
One of my favorite memories of my mom and I is when she taught me how to ice skate. I was about eight years old and all I could do was fall so I sat down and started to cry. She told me that I would get it soon. We went home and when we went back the next day. my mom grew up next to a pound with my uncle and she would always go and skate with him.
“She told me to look where I was going and to just kick off with my legs”
I was so happy I could finally ice skate my mom was right next to me clapping her hand saying good job sweetheart. That night she took me out for dinner and ice cream. I was thinking that when I saw my dad I could show him but I knew I would never see him again. I never wanted my mom to turn out like that and she told me she would never leave you. One day I got off the bus and my Uncle Garret was the one at the stop. I ran up to him and yelled “where is my mom?”
I could tell by the look on his face his throat was all scratchy and he was upset. My heart started to pound it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest. I got in the car and my and it looked like he started to cry. It looked like he was crying a river. I hugged him.
“It's going to be alright Amanda.”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S GOING TO BE ALRIGHT?!”
“your mother went missing a couple of hours ago?” his face looked all confused
I could tell he wasn't telling the truth.
“She was just my sister but she was your mom. You guys did everything together. She would do anything for you. your mom probably didn't tell you this but our mom and dad died in a car crash when your mom was 12”
Why didn’t she ever tell me that?! What other secrets was she keeping from me? Why did she leave just like my dad. wait a second I am 12! I am so confused. I ran out of the car and into Garret’s house. I just needed to be alone to let all this stuff generate through my brain.
That night all I heard was my uncle crying. Monday morning at two thirty ish, I finally fell asleep and my uncle let me sleep instead of going to school. Tuesday when I went back to school it felt really weird. My best friend was hanging out with this girl that I didn’t know. Then I realized she was a new girl. At the end of the day when I was getting on the bus. Olivia came up to me and asked where I have been all day and I yelled at her like there was no tomorrow.
“I HAVE BEEN HERE ALL DAY IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE, RIGHT BEHIND YOU, I EVEN GAVE THAT NEW GIRL A NOTE FOR YOU AND YOU ARE ASKING ME NOW WHERE I'VE BEEN ALL DAY!”
“FOR ONE THING I NEVER GOT A NOTE FROM YOU AND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I HAVEN’T SEE YOU ALL DAY!”
“WELL IF YOU WERE SO WORRIED ABOUT WHERE I HAVE BEEN ALL DAY MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE OPENED YOUR EYES AND LOOKED.
Then the new girl, Alex, came and pulled Olivia away from me and whispered, “you shouldn't be hanging out with this girl.”
“But she’s my friend.”
“Not if she’s yelling at you like that.”
“You're right. Maybe I should just hang out with you.”
“OLIVIA YOU CAN’T DO THIS! YOU’RE JUST GOING TO WALK AWAY WITH SOMEONE WHO JUST SHOWED UP OUT OF NOWHERE AND LEAVE ME? YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HER!”
“YES I CAN, YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND TRY TO CONTROL MY LIFE! I DON’T NEED YOU TELLING ME WHAT TO DO LIKE MY MOM!”
“WELL AT LEAST YOU STILL HAVE A MOM!” as I got on the bus I heard Olivia say something but I couldn’t quite hear her.
“what do you mean at least I still have a mom you do to? Amanda get back here I am confuse don't you have a mom?”
When I got home I went straight to my room and started to cry all I did was think about what I did wrong to deserve this awful month. I know I lost my mom and dad what if I lose my uncle then what if I die?
The Fire
I woke up at about six in the morning, it got really hot. then I heard my uncle screaming
¨ GET OUT NOW RUN .¨
I ran down the stair and saw this big hot yellow and red light, than I realized it was a fire and someone was with my uncle I thought he called the firefighters and they were saving him but it was really someone holding on to my uncle by the neck with a knife. I thought this all was just a dream but I never woke up. As the fire spread I ran outside as fast as I could I thought my uncle was right behind me but he was gone and so was the house all my stuff all my memories… I started to cry at that moment I saw my mom helping me ice skate and taking me out to dinner all of the things I had left of my mom and dad are now gone.
When the fire went out I went inside I saw my uncle's body on the ground and and the guy that was holding on to my uncle it looked like Olivia's dad. than I saw a picture of my mom hanging out of his pocket, I took it out and there was blood on it,I ran to the sheriff’s office as fast as I could,
“Tell me what you know about this women she went missing like two months ago”
“She didn't go missing little kid, she was killed by this group called the NRA”
It felt like the world stopped right then and there all I could remember was my mom and I playing soccer, basketball, and her telling me about my dad¨Little girl what is your name,
His voice started to sound irritated and it got louder
¨LITTLE GIRL¨
“can you tell me any more about her, and what happened to her husband”
“I'm sorry we are not aloud to tell anyone this information unless you are family”
“I am, please I need to know why everyone in my family is getting killed or leaving me”
“Well sweet heart your dad was in this group of people called the NRA the national robbery association. When he left the group the guys went after your family to get back to your father and now they are going after you I use to be part of them and then I quit because I did not want to go after a little innocent girl.
“Are they going to get me?”
“I have said too much you have to leave now.”
The next morning I went back to my uncle's house I stepped over the bodies and as I started to pull pieces of wood and stacking them in one spot I found this chest I had to find the key that opens it. After a couple of hours cleaning the house I found the key opened the chest and… I stood there for just a few seconds at that moment I started to look through the pictures I saw my mom, my dad, and Olivia’s dad, the one that killed my uncle.
The Hard Truth
The next day when I went to school I pulled olivia aside and asked her where her dad was she told me he died and I knew i had to tell her I was sorry for yelling at her. But i had to tell her the hard hard truth.
“I have to tell you the truth about how your dad died.he is part of a group called the NRA my dad was part of this group than he quit so he would not hurt any of my family but when he quit all the guy went after him even your dad they killed my dad then my mom and then yesterday your dad started a fire in my uncle's house and it spread really fast when it got all around the house your dad took my uncles neck he had a knife in his hand, he cut my uncles neck and your dad did not make and in time to get out of the house, I am so sorry”
“I don't believe you prove it”
“I will after school meet me at the corner of the school where we use to always meet”
“ok fine but what will I tell my mom”
“I will talk to her and there is one more thing I have to tell you…”
Than the bell rang I told my teacher I was walking home but i didn't have a note and he told me they had to call my uncle and i knew i had to tell him and i did i told him my uncle was dead he was killed by a fire and if they called him he would not answer. They still called no answer they said they were sorry for my loss and then asked if i still had a place to live and eat i told them i was living with my friend that took me in.
The end of the day finally came I waited at the corner for olivia after ten minutes she finally came and asked if i was ready to go I said I was ready but I asked if she was ready to see her dead dad and dead people and the fire that he started. she was ready on the way the ice cream man stopped by and asked if we wanted a free ice cream and we said no because we had to get somewhere. after five miles we finally got to my uncle's house and she saw her dad and my uncle. she put her head on my chest and she told me she was sorry for all the stuff her dad did to my family
“what is my mom going to say when we tell he what happened”
I told her I was sorry and I had no clue when we got to her house I asked if we could have a moment and all talk and when I told her mom about what happend how her husband and my uncle were killed her mom said she was really sorry for what happened and the least she could do is adopted me.
The Adoption Day
Olivia's mom adopted me and Olivia was now my sister and my best friend we found all the people who were part of the NRA and they got arrested and locked up. My life was finally happy and hopefully no one will be killed this time around. when the adoption was over we all had a party but I had really wished my mom dad and uncle was there but my life is not blooddy anymore and it is finally a family that will not leave me for any reasons. Than my mom told us she was about to have another baby and olivia and I were so confused if she didn't have a boyfriend how was she going to have a baby then she told us the more exciting news she had a boyfriend, and my family was finally complete and I had more siblings than ever.
The Baby
Our mom finally had the baby and when we went home after a couple days in the hospital our feet hurt we smelt like new baby and we had a new baby sister. now my life was totally complete or I thought it was. Once I heard my new sisters name my life was finally bright her name was Isabella she grew up to be a wonderful little girl and I love my new family.
