Independent Study

Independent Study Options- Read, Review, Reveal

Students that choose this option will have an opportunity to explore scholarly books and articles in way that will promote independence thought, research, and personal responsibility. Depending on arrangements with each student books and articles selected should each require two weeks of focus. In order to receive full credit all work must be completed and posted on the individual website of each student for parent, teacher, and administrators to view.

Book Reviews-

All books selected must have literary and/or historic relevance and merit.

Each book must be read in its entirety before the assigned due date(s).

Two to three scholarly reviews of each book must be read evaluated.

Each book must be reviewed by the independent study student using the following criteria.

All reviews (1-2 standard pages) must be posted with 2-3 illustrations that help to illuminate or expand the viewers understanding of the book and the context. For example, a set of maps showing the expansion or erosion of a region or nation that is the setting of the book.

Article Evaluations-

All articles selected must have literary/scholarly merit and be sourced from professional, reputable, and journalistic providers.

The entire article must be read in its entirety by the assigned due date(s).

All journalistic articles must be evaluated, contextualized, and posted on student websites.
