Many geopolitical theorist characterize the 20th Century as the "American Century" because of the cultural, economic, military, and political supremacy of the United States and the declining fortunes of traditional European powers and the demise of communism. The 21st century is still being defined by the continued power of the United States and emerging powerful competitors such as the European Union and the again powerful Chinese. In this, our last unit, we will explore the geopolitical realities and challenges that face the world's leaders and consider some of the scenarios that could emerge as critical in your lifetimes.
