7.7 Authoritarianism in Russia

One of the most difficult foreign policy challenges that the United States faces is the relationship with Russia. Vladimir Putin's reign has now lasted longer than Stalin's. The corruption, limited freedoms, and levels of poverty have increased domestically. As a foriegn advisary the Russians have destabilized their neighbors, conducted a military invasion and supported the Assad regime's brutal crack-down on rebelous portions of Syria.
