3.5/5 Although Defonte's is all the way in Red Hook, it may or may not be worth the trek depending on your opinion of this sandwich. The most divisive sandwich of the summer so far, we had scores ranging from the low 2's to the high 4's. This sandwich doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is and you have to give it that. Could it use more gravy? Yes. Could it use a little more kick? Yes. But at the end of the day, it's a simple, filling sandwich with good meat and bread (the eggplant and mozzarella are debatable, although the mozz' is very fresh--I watched it get cut before my eyes!). The pepper poppers are also amazing, although the same can't be said for the fries (which are more like wedges).
