Safety

One of our biggest concerns in Technology and Engineering Education is ensuring the safety of all of our students. The information contained in this site will provide information about the purpose and proper use of each tool and machine in our material processing lab. Place the cursor over the Tool & Machine Safety tab above to access safety information about specific tools and machines.

Safety Tests

All students will must pass each safety test with 100% before they will be permitted to work in the material processing lab and/or use tools and machines. All safety information will be covered in detail in class prior to taking safety tests. Students may retake tests in a timely manner as necessary.

Tests By Grade:

6th Grade - General Lab Safety, 6th Grade Hand Tool Safety (modified from the 7th & 8th grade test), Drill Press Safety

7th Grade - General Lab Safety, Drill Press Safety, Power Miter Saw Safety, Scroll Saw Safety, Sander Safety, Hand Tool Safety, and Jointer/Planer/Table Saw Safety

8th Grade - General Lab Safety, Drill Press Safety, Power Miter Saw Safety, Scroll Saw Safety, Sander Safety, Hand Tool Safety, Router Table Safety, and Jointer/Planer/Table Saw Safety

**Note: Students will not be using the jointer or table saw in class, however these machines will be used during class and can present danger to anyone in the room. That is one of the reasons kickback is listed under tool and machine safety. The purpose, proper usage, as well as safety concerns will be covered in class and represented on the jointer/planer/table saw safety test.
