Egg Drop
Overview
Overview
This STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) based project introduces students to material properties and forces encountered in a crash. Students follow the engineering design process in the development of their projects. The criteria and constraints encourage creativity; size and weight constraints force students to rely on their knowledge of material properties and crash forces gained through this project to successfully prevent an egg from fracturing after a 10 foot drop to the floor. Students have the opportunity to earn additional points if their projects can withstand additional testing.
